"The
chronicle of your journey from sailor to racer was vividly played
out in the beautiful slides you showed. But the underlying appreciation
for all of us was the amount of planning, preparation, effort,
and commitment you displayed before even approaching the starting
line. The inherent danger that was ever present was hard to imagine
for those of us who have never ventured out of the Chesapeake
Bay. To travel across the Atlantic Ocean from France to Brazil
in a 21-foot boat, no matter how painstakinly outfitted, is an
amazing feat. You are to be commended for your courage and venturesome
spirit. You have given each of us another perspective on traveling
the waterways of the world."
